My Last Glossybox

Oh Glossybox, where did it all go wrong? These past few years I have awaited your arrival with the highest hopes only to have them shot down time and time again, but up until now I still haven’t been able to end our journey completely. I want to say it’s me, not you, but that’s not the case at all; I picked you up from the post office, filled in your countless surveys but what did I receive in return? Nothing to write home about, that’s for sure.

When I first signed up I filled out your long complex ‘beauty profile’ and after spending so long on it I’d have thought you would at least have used it before you sent me products that I have no use for. Add on top of that the endless surveys to earn ‘glossydots.’ I didn’t mind them at first, 50 points per survey, I could earn a free box in 4 boxes, but then you changed it to only 20 without any warning. Slightly sneaky don’t you think? When I asked you about it you told me there was new stuff coming soon, have I seen anything yet? Of course not. And lets be honest, those perfume samples, the ones I could get free from a department store, they’re really only there to bulk out the box.

So what I’m really trying to say Glossybox, is that the disappointing products have made the novelty of the monthly boxes wear off. Your large brand directory, although it seems impressive I’ve never received most of those, usually getting the products of So Susan, which in my reviews I say they are not up to scratch. Yes I admit, a few of the products you have sent me I enjoyed using, but really, the bad outweigh the good. So long for now, maybe we’ll be able make acquaintance sometime in the future but for now I leave you with this one last box.

This months box is based around the theme of ‘Step Into Spring’ and the box is full of products to give a ‘fresh approach’ to the new season. First up is the Naobay Moisturizing Peel which is a full size product. I’ve received this in a Glossybox before but it was 150ml so I guess they must have redesigned as now there is less product and it is now in a squeezy tube. I also got the Essence Lash Princess Volume Mascara, now I love Essence as a budget brand but am yet to try any of their mascaras so I’ll try it for a while. A duo that were very recently on my blog are here again in the shape of the Dove Advanced Hair Series, sorry Glossybox, You Beauty Discovery got there first. The penultimate product is a ncLA Nail Lacquer in I Only Fly Private, it’s not a colour I usually wear but I’ll give it a go, a strange orange colour, which FYI has partially separated and took a hell of a lot of shaking to try and mix it back. Finally I got the Sleek Pout Paint in Peachy Keen, a peachy orange that is not my colour at all so I’ll probably give away to one of my friends.

Overall lets be fair, this box hasn’t helped my opinion on Glossyboxes, products that won’t suit me, products I’ve received before, etc. The box has a value of just over £37, which is pretty good but none of the products really stand out to me. I’d love to know your views on Glossybox, do you love it or has the fun of it worn out?

I cancelled my Glossybox subscription in November (as well as the rest of my regular ones) and i'm so glad I did. Occasionally I see a box that I think i'd have liked, but it doesn't make me want to change my mind. I'd rather put the money towards products I actually want. I ended up with piles of product i'd never try because of subscription services. I found I was always getting send things which were completely unsuitable for my skin type or hair type.Antonia x | Fifi and the Diamonds

The unsuitable products are what annoyed me the most simply because I couldn't use them and that seemed like such a waste of money xx

I cancelled my subscription years ago now, after 6 boxes I decided that it was just a waste of time and money!!Francesca xo // EffStar Beauty // YouTube Channel
