Now this isn’t necessarily a proper review, mainly because if you’re eagle eyed you may notice that this is June’s Glossybox and it is now July. Instead this post is more around the idea of whether Glossybox is worth the £13.95 a month they are asking.
So as I said, Glossybox is £13.95 a month (including p&p.) It’s not particularly cheap for what it is and often people find that beauty boxes lose their shine. I was subscribed to Glossybox many moons ago before dabbling in YouBeauty and then a years worth of LoveMeBeauty. Glossybox is different to those two due to the fact that Glossybox doesn’t allow you to pick your products effectively making it a lucky dip. I used to like the lucky dip idea, until I started feeling like I wasn’t enjoying the products. That’s when I switched to boxes where you could choose because although I lost the element of surprise, I got things I really wanted. The reason I decided to try Glossybox again this month was because of an amazing deal, £5 for a box with two extra goodies. Not bad going really.
Above you can see what I got in my box, and the two extras. There were three full size products: a Sleek Power Plump Lip Crayon in Notorious Nude, Eness Cosmetics Argan Oil Hand Cream and Batiste Stylist Shield Spray. I don’t think the lip crayon will work for me as it is too dark of a nude, and I’ve already given my stepmum the hand cream. However, the Batiste spray seems like an interesting one. The other three bits were the 111Skin Eye Lift Gel, Beauty Pro Black Diamond Mask and Manna Kadar Cosmetics Sheer Glo. The Eye Gel is currently in my travel mini pot in case I go on holiday somewhere hot, (it’s not looking likely.) The mask is in my to try facemasks, I’m a sucker for charcoal peel off masks. The Sheer Glo highlight has gone to a new home as it looked like it would be too dark for my pale skin. So all in all, you win some, you lose some.
The Rodial mascara and Dr Paw Paw balm were the two extras and probably the best items in the box. (Which doesn’t say much for the others.) Overall, for £5 the box was worth it, but if it was full price I probably would have steered well clear. I do now have the July box as I didn’t cancel my subscription in time and it’s better than June’s but still not worth the £13.95.
