Christmas Traditions and Things to Do

I’m sure you are already knee deep in festive spirit and wrapping paper at this point in December. But as I only did 12 days of Blogmas I thought I would throw in a little post about the things me and my family do around Christmas time, you could call them traditions.

John Lewis Lego Creations

From when I was very young I have had a love of Lego, both my brothers have since acquired this love and so you will often find us sat around on a December night building something out of Lego. My creation will nearly always be a house of come description for all my Lego figures, whereas my brothers have no set idea – their creation could be anything. This year I managed to get my hands on a LE Moz the Monster Lego set*, which for a Lego fan is pretty darn cool. John Lewis teamed up with a company called Bright Bricks to create little Moz, they’ve created mini Lego models of the adverts since 2012 (the year of the snowmen.) You can see them here!

If I was venturing up to London between now and Christmas I would definitely pop into the John Lewis on Oxford Street until Friday where you can see six of the scenes!

Another thing me and my family do is watch films for the majority of Christmas Eve, we choose a selection of our favourite Christmassy films while tracking Santa on the NORAD website. This years selection so far is: Arthur Christmas, The Polar Express, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone and Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. (According to my step dad, Azkaban is Christmassy because of the snow, I disagree, my choice was Philosopher’s Stone as they actually celebrate Christmas properly in it. But each to their own.)

Last but not least is something new for 2017. On the 23rd, while my brothers and step dad are out watching the football, me and my mum are making lots of tasty Christmas treats. We’re doing both sweet and savoury. I work at a Wedding venue and I’m stealing their canape ideas: we have smoked salmon crostini with cream cheese, lamb meatballs with tomato salsa, mini jacket potato with sour cream and chive, and finally honey mustard sausages. I also made sure we had some sweet options: salted caramel macaroons and mini treacle tarts. It’s going to be a fun filled day and one full of food which should be good. Follow me on Instagram if you want to see how these all turn out.

I hope you have the best lead up to Christmas possible, eat all the food, be merry and just enjoy yourselves. This will be my last post until after Christmas so all that is left to say is:

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

I agree with the Philosopher's Stone, feels more christmassy than any of the other ones. I already watched Home Alone, The Holiday and Love Actually!! xxYiotaPinkDaisyLoves
