Dubai Where to Go?

A short but sweet post coming to you today. This is my Dubai where to go guide, which stretches further than just one Arab state, as you will see later on. I had to revert to a couple of collages in this post, I apologise for that; I may have forgotten to take landscape photos in most places…

Dubai Where to Go?

First up, if you go to Dubai, you must take a day trip to Abu Dhabi. It was around an hour and a half/two hours drive, definitely manageable though and a surprisingly straightforward drive too. What is there to do in Abu Dhabi I hear you ask. First of course you have to visit the beautiful Sheikh Zayed Mosque, I’d recommend you do this as either the first or last visit that day as it is quite an outside visit. Ladies, you will have to cover up, coverings are provided but they get very warm as you wander round marvelling at its beauty – if you go as a group planned visit they may provide you with covering beforehand. Another place to go in Abu Dhabi has to be Emirates Palace. It is elegant and intricately designed in every way possible, we stayed for a drink and to take photos by the front steps. The freshly baked macaroons caught my eye but I managed to resist. If you’re in the mood for shopping, Yas Mall is a good warmup for the Dubai Mall – all in all I walked 16k steps according to my FitBit when we visited Abu Dhabi, a feat I also achieved walking round Dubai Mall.

Back in Dubai I recommend a trip to the tallest building in the world the Burj Khalifa, to break up your visit to Dubai Mall. It’s very rare in life that you will find yourself quite this high up, so it’s not one for the faint hearted, but it really puts everything into perspective. We planned our trip just before sunset so everything has a glow about it. Then of course you have to get back to shopping in the Dubai Mall. If you struggle to find things you would like to buy, this is the shopping mall for you, Google reliably informs me there are 1,200 shops, (and a Sephora! UK shoppers rejoice!)

Another experience everyone should try is a Desert Safari. You get to spend 3o mins holding on for dear life while the guides do some extreme sand driving, take some amazing pictures of the desert during sunset. You then get taken to a desert camp where there is food, camel riding, henna and lots more to enjoy. (Though, arguably the belly dancing went on for about 25 minutes too long!)

The final place you have to visit, especially if you’re going in Winter time, are the Miracle Gardens. They were a little bedraggled when I visited (mid to late March,) but check out HelloMissJordan’s feed to see the gardens in all their glory. The Butterfly Gardens were also open, however we made the executive decision to give it a miss as it was super hot already at 9am!

I went to Dubai once but it was during their Ramadan so we were a bit restricted with what we could do and when, but I’d love to go back and do the things on this list that I didn’t do the first time I was there!
