Has anyone actually found the definitive answer to which mascara is the best? Don’t get me wrong, I completely understand that everyone has different preferences when it comes to how their lashes look and the formula used. For me mascara is the one product I couldn’t live without, and yes I’m fully aware my brows are non-existent to a point, but mascara wakes me up and is a first step to looking more alive. When I was kindly sent the Nouveau Lashes Enhance Mascara* I was hoping to find a new holy grail, and to be honest I found it quite unique.
The Nouveau Lashes Enhance Mascara* is especially formulated for lash extensions, which I do not have and have never tried, but Nouveau Lashes have stated that it is suitable for both extensions and normal lashes. I think the most interesting area of any mascara is its wand, as that usually makes it or breaks it for me. On first look I thought the wand may be a deal breaker. It is a fibre brush, not my first choice, the bristles are different lengths dependent on which side you use. On one the bristles are quite short and stubby, while the others are longer and more flexible. I actually found this to be an advantage as I often either get volume at the base of the lashes or length at the ends – with this I got both. The shorter side got right down to the base of my lashes and for once I had a darkened lash line without the need to go in with a kohl pencil, while the longer side separated and lengthened the rest. I ended up with a doe eyed look which isn’t something I usually aim for, but I actually really liked.
With regards to the packaging, it follows with the theme of the mascara in its uniqueness. It is very rare you see many high end brands use colour in the packaging, and don’t get me wrong Nouveau Lashes are high end – this mascara is near the price of your favourite Benefit one. (Mine for the record is Roller Lash!) The royal purple is definitely something that will stand out on your dressing table, and it’s not like Nouveau Lashes didn’t make the tube irregular too. I think if it was metal rather than a strange almost rubberised texture, it might feel more luxe, but let’s be honest, if that is all I am complaining about, it’s still a pretty good find.
Overall, I like the mascara but I think I would have trouble parting with the £19 it would cost to replace it, especially as I tend to have mascara samples lying around all the time. Perhaps it does work better on lash extensions, but this is not something I am able to test. However, if you’re looking to try a new high end mascara that provides lift and volume at the base as well as lengthening at the end, I’d put this on the ‘to try’ list for sure.
