19 Candles to Blow Out

It’s official people, I made it through the year and today I am 19. I can’t say this post is going to be absolutely groundbreaking in terms of content, just a little run through of my 19th birthday celebrations.

19th Birthday Celebrations

The title of this post is actually quite amusing as this year I don’t think I will be blowing any candles out, not nineteen anyway at least. My family is quite complicated so I end up having more than one birthday, (poor me I know.) This year I ended up having a little family get together on my mum’s side, the weekend before my birthday. It was quite a nice little party, I had been hoping that it would be a garden party theme, however we managed to pick the only day of summer that it decided to torrential rain. We left the garden games outside and headed in for sandwiches, sushi and cake. I even made my own cake, it took blood, sweat and tears (also two attempts and a near meltdown covered in luminous yellow icing,) but I made a giraffe cake using the tutorial from The Icing Artist. I now know how to crumb a cake, smooth it with butter-icing, make fondant features and stain my acrylics with yellow food dye.

19th Birthday Celebrations

Me and my mum spend the day together for my birthday every year, it’s kind of a tradition now. We’re going for a waffle brunch and a facial before a Chinese where Will – my boyfriend – will be joining us so they can share duck. I rarely go out for facials, so this is such a treat for my skin. We use a local beauty salon who have a range of Decleor facials on offer. I went for the Moisture Quench last year and this year the Ultimate Vitamin Glow, they come with a back and arm massage as well which is glorious.

As for my birthday with my dad, we are heading out for afternoon tea at Oakley Hall. Last year I got to feed giraffes which was an incredible experience, but this year I’ve gone more elegant with finger sandwiches and scones. The grounds at Oakley Hall are beautiful too, so I’m going to dress up super nice and hopefully get some cute blog photos – boyfriend’s good mood permitting that is.

For the final 19th birthday celebration I am heading to London with one of my best friends, Sacha. We’ve booked ourselves a chocoholics afternoon tea this time. There was a great offer on Groupon and we’re going for out joint birthday celebration as strangely we have the same birthday – today! So before I forget, HAPPY BIRTHDAY SACHA, see you next week.

I’m undecided on whether I will do a ‘What I got for my Birthday’ post, I used to love them, but now I feel less inclined to share them. I much prefer to do in depth reviews on any makeup products I may receive. If you follow me on Instagram you probably saw a few of the things I got up to already, if you want to see the rest head on over now! That’s all for my 19th birthday celebrations, so I can say goodbye to the balloons till next year. Also, if you want to know a the bloopers of this post: a few photos have me as 91 and, well the bambi shorts speak for themselves.
