If you were to ask most beauty junkies where their obsession started, I imagine they can pinpoint it. For me it must have been around starting secondary school time; my mum has been forever loyal to Clinique and always used to give me the minis from her ‘Bonus Time’ that she didn’t use. I’d been buying Natural Collection and Rimmel a couple of years prior but I eventually decided to save up my pocket money and buy two items from Clinique, (two so I got the bonus time set of course.) Since then, I too have become loyal to Clinique and so at the first sniff of a Clinique beauty box, I pounce! The LookFantastic x Clinique beauty box has a selection of six products worth over £90 in total including my absolute holy grail moisturiser: Moisture Surge, so I had to have it!
The box is extremely impressive for the price as you get three full size products. Moisture Surge is the best moisturiser I have ever used when it comes to treating dry skin. The texture is as described: a gel cream which feels absolutely weightless on the skin, but it is an expensive luxury moisturiser. Before my birthday I had only ever had mini tubs and sachets of Moisture Surge as it is £36 a tub, now I have 2 thanks to this box and a birthday gift and I don’t ever want to run out. The second full size product is the Moisturising Chubby Stick in Super Strawberry. These were all the rage a few years back and I never had a full sized one but picked up a few minis from magazines. My mum loves these, so I’m passing this onto her as my lip product collection is quite extensive, it’s a very wearable shade, especially as autumn is creeping in and this is a burnt, muted red when build up. The last off the full sized products is less interesting to me as it is the Quickliner for Eyes in Really Black – a generic black liner with a smudger. It has a nice enough formula but I have quite small eyes so black liner tends to close them up.
Of the three minis, two are skincare and one makeup; it’s the skincare ones that I love the most. I’d had my eye on the Double Bubble Purifying mask but didn’t want to commit to buying a full size so a decently sized mini was perfect. So far I really like this and it actually seemed to make my skin feel squeaky clean, it is very similar to the Dermalogica fizz mask but more on that in an upcoming post. Another mini of the Take the Day Off cleansing balm is never a bad addition to my travel cleansing collection, I have a full review here! The final mini is the High Impact Lash Elevating mascara, something you’ll find in nearly every single Bonus Time Clinique do. This isn’t my favourite mascara of theirs but if you need a mascara that offers slight volume and definition, this is a good starter.
The LookFantastic x Clinique Beauty Box is definitely worth the £35 it costs and you can get a further £5 off by subscribing – Moisture Surge alone is £36 a pot! If you know someone looking to get into high end brands or even just needs a new skincare routine this is the perfect set, the perfect gift even. I’ve now purchased two Clinique beauty boxes in my life and believe me; as soon as the next one pops up I will be getting that one too.
