The last time I bought anything from Colourpop was back in Spring 2017; they had a free shipping on all orders offer and I made sure to stay under the threshold to avoid customs charges. Fast forward to now and customs charges are now part of your order – so there’s no way to cheat the system! – but it means you won’t find your order costing an extra £8+ when it’s delivered. Even though I wouldn’t have got stung by customs charges, I still didn’t have the spare £50 to spend to reach the free shipping threshold, so I gave it a miss. Then came the BlackFriday offers: 30% off lip products and free delivery on any order, and I gave in, shortly after one of my friends told me they had ordered!
I only picked up three items, but lots of the shades I would have bought were best sellers and unsurprisingly out of stock. I thought I’d finally try a famed LippieStix and Lip Liner. I went for the shade Lumiere in the LippieStix, it’s been a fan favourite from one of the many Kathleen Lights collabs and is a beautiful ‘dusty mauve pink’. This is a shade that is right up my alley, I just can’t get on with more brown toned nudes, I just won’t wear them. So instead, I’m turning to pinks I know I’ll love. The lip liner is in the shade Ellarie, I chose this to complement the other lipstick I bought, it’s a really nice match. I need to invest more in lip liners as I like to overdraw my lips sometimes.
If you throw stars on the packaging, and or it is rose gold, you are really likely to grab my attention. Enter into my collection the Creme Lux Lipstick in Hello Stranger. This is part of Colourpop’s more luxury range, it’s a relatively new addition to their collection, but it is beautiful. The star theme even continues onto the bullet which makes me wary to use it as I don’t want to ruin it. The shade itself on the website is called a ‘deepened burgundy,’ in real life to me it’s more of a deep redish berry. It is also a matte but really doesn’t feel too drying.
I’ll be honest with you, I don’t think any of the products I bought in 2017 are still in my collection. The liquid lipsticks dried my lips out no end and the SuperShock shadows weren’t all that in the end. However, this trio looks more promising as they’re shades I will be able to use easily and comfortably. Colourpop are so affordable when you think about it, so much so I often place loads in my basket and have to talk myself out of buying it all. I will definitely be purchasing again in the future, hopefully they will have another free shipping offer in the new year. Also, this is my last post until New Year, so I hope you have a Merry Christmas!
