Okay, so I may have skipped two posts and taken a weeks break from blogging the week after I said I would be consistent again. As always, life has other plans; this time it was two assignments, getting my annual winter cold and a trip to A&E because of my clumsiness. This meant my schedule was pretty much non existent and any downtime I had was spent sleeping. Anyway, I thought I would get back on track with a look inside the MACxLookFantastic Beauty Box.
Now, blogger of the year over here managed to miss a product out of the photos, so you’ll have to excuse that – or click off, it’s been quite a shambolic start really hasn’t it! The box retailed for £35 at the time and is similar to the Clinique box I reviewed a few months ago. Even though MAC is such a cult brand in the beauty world, I’d only tried a couple of lipsticks and eyeshadows so I thought I would treat myself and explore the brand further. The boxes value is about double the RRP which of course is the main draw, it even contains two full size products which are always impressive.
There were six products in the box, one deluxe mini, three MAC minis and two full size products. The deluxe mini was a strobe cream, I’ve had a sample before but I’ve passed it on as I haven’t really been into primers. Now however, I’m trying to change my view of them and use them more often, so I’ll definitely be keeping this. The three MAC minis are all available to buy separately as part of their travel size products. There is a mini Lipglass in Spite which is a nude shade, the product that escaped my photography. A mini mascara in Extreme Dimension 3D Black Lash, I always like trying out new mascaras so will open this when I’m running out of my other mini mascaras. The mini I was most excited for was the Fix+ as everyone seems to rave about this and as a dry skin sufferer if this can stop my makeup looking cakey I will invest in a full size version.
The swatches above are of the two full size products that come in the MACxLookFantastic box. The first is the Amber Lights eyeshadow. In the early days of YouTube this is all anyone seemed to talk about, and I can see why; it’s stunning. A beautiful coppery orange which I’m hoping will work nicely with my green eyes over the festive period. The second full size was the satin lipstick in Twig. I’m really glad it wasn’t RubyWoo, which is a classic but is also everywhere, I much prefer the muted browny pink, much more wearable for someone like me who tends to go natural most days.
This box is an absolute steal if I’m honest, and any boxes like the MACxLookFantastic beauty box will catch my eye. It took a lot of willpower for me to resist their recent Molton Brown one, but they really are such good ideas. Put together a value box of favourites to let people try or give as gifts and then people can find out if they love the brand or not. Sadly, they’re out of stock now but definitely keep checking back to see if they do anymore exclusive boxes.
