Sometimes, you see something that you just have to have and it coincides nicely with a treat yourself moment. This is one of those moments; home was a little tricky, I was stressed with assignments and overall decided I deserved a treat. I had seen this BobbiBrown x Lulu Guinness collab pop up in a BeautyNews video and a few of my favourite bloggers’ Instagrams and the set really caught my eye!
The set was a collaboration between BobbiBrown and Lulu Guinness, for £35 it included a rather cute (and surprisingly spacious) makeup bag, full size Smokey Eye mascara and Art Stick in Bare. The best bit about the set, other than the contents, was that it was in honour of International Women’s Day 2019 and all proceeds go towards the Smart Works charity, who offer a dressing and coaching service for unemployed women. So not only are you getting yourself some shiny new makeup, you’re also supporting a great cause.
The bag is absolutely gorgeous, the window on the front is the trademark Lulu Guinness lips shape, as is the print all over. Also the zip had a lip shaped tag to open and shut it which is so cute. I wasn’t sure if it would be big enough for a travel makeup bag as I load quite a few items in when I go, however I was pleasantly surprised. It can definitely fit a decent amount of makeup, as long as you pack any palettes separately; it’s almost too big for an everyday makeup bag but I’m going to make it work. It’s not a hard shell bag so you will have to be careful, but because of that you can make it fit more than it probably should if you need to.
The products that come within the set are also incredible, both are full size. The first thing that caught my eye in the set was the full size Smokey Eye mascara, I got a sample in the BobbiBrown x Asos box and it’s incredible. It’s so volumising and lengthening, I don’t need falsies when I use this as it transforms my lashes. The only problem is the price, £25, which is a lot for a mascara, bearing in mind there are many good drugstore alternatives. This whole set was £35 so definitely good value for what you get. The other product included is a full size Art Stick in Bare, a browny nude shade which I wouldn’t go for usually, but this is growing on me. Now these are expensive at £22.50, however these contain 6g of product, twice the weight of a MAC lipstick, and you get a jumbo sharpener so you don’t have to worry about not having one that will fit it.
I think you will agree that this set is amazing in terms of value and contents; a Lulu Guinness makeup bag, full size mascara and lipstick for £35, profits of which go to a charity supporting women! A pretty good purchase, especially when I was planning to buy the mascara for £25 on its own and for £10 more I was able to get the other bits too. (There was also another deal running on the BobbiBrown site at the time so I got a full size lipstick free as well, but that’s for another post.) After the ASOS x BobbiBrown box a few months back I really am starting to fall in love with BB’s products, sadly I won’t be able to try lots at once as they are rather expensive, but I want to try their base products next.
You can buy the full size Bobbi Brown products from the Bobbi Brown Beauty Emergency Kit from the Bobbi Brown website for £30.
